This window shows a text list of game objects within your scene.
Game objects are the objects in the actual game. They use assets listed in the Project window to determine how the scene or game looks, sounds, and behaves.
Usually, this tab starts with a Main Camera and a Directional Light.
Objects can "parent" other objects. The list of "child" or inner objects appears or collapses when you click on the triangle to the left of the object's name.
The current scene name is shown at the top of the window.
An asterisk or * at the end of the scene name means changes have been made, but have not been saved. Saving the file removes the asterisk.
Selected objects are highlighted blue by default. You can select more than one object by holding the CTRL Key and clicking with the left mouse button on the objects. The same method with the SHIFT key can select all the objects in a row.
You can search for items using the search bar. Once you begin typing, the list will only show items with the letters in the name in the same order. To clear the search quickly, click the X on the right side of the search bar.
Note: Game objects are listed without their hierarchy in the search results.
Sometimes, you'll find yourself picking the wrong game object in the Scene View because of an overlap or how close it is to your intended game object. The pointy hand symbol that appears to the left of the object is a way to tell the program whether an object can be selected in the Scene View. Clicking the symbol to the left of the scene name will toggle the ability to pick all the objects.
Notes: 1. You must unselect the object for the updated setting to work. 2. When you change the ability for a parent object to be selected, you change it for all its child objects.
Sometimes, you'll want to hide an object in the Scene view. Hover your cursor over the space to the left of an object. Click the eye symbol to toggle the object's visibility. Clicking the eye to the left of the scene name will toggle visibility on and off for all objects.
Notes: 1. The hidden object will still be visible in the Game View. 2. When you hide a parent object, this also hides its child objects.
Click the plus sign or + on the left of the search bar to add a game object to the scene.
Click on the three dots on the right of the scene name and the tab for menus of commands related to the tab and scene.
